Fishing at Middlesex Fells Reservation

Middlesex Fells Reservation has freshwater fishing at several ponds and reservoirs within its 2,575 acres, just minutes from Boston. Whether you're a seasoned angler or a first-time fisherman, the Fells provides a peaceful, accessible spot to cast a line in a natural setting.

Fishing Spots

Spot Pond

Spot Pond in Stoneham is the reservation's main fishing spot. Paddle Boston, which runs the boat rentals there, describes the fishing as great. Private boats aren't allowed, so to fish from the water you'll need a rental.

Quarter Mile Pond & Doleful Pond

Additional ponds within the reservation offer bank fishing access and are worth exploring for anglers looking to find less-trafficked spots.

Fishing License Requirements

A valid Massachusetts freshwater fishing license is required for all anglers 15 years of age and older. Licenses are available online through the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife or at many local sporting goods stores.

• Fishing is permitted from the bank only in most areas — no motorized boats
• Follow all Massachusetts DFW size and catch limits
• No fishing from dams or restricted water supply areas
• Pack out all fishing line and trash
