Parking at Middlesex Fells Reservation
Middlesex Fells Reservation has several parking lots spread across its 2,575 acres, serving hikers, mountain bikers, dog owners, and day visitors. This guide covers the main lots, their locations, and tips for busy weekends. For trail information, see our Trail Map.
South Border Road Parking Lot
The South Border Road parking lot is the most popular entry point to Middlesex Fells Reservation. Located along South Border Road in Medford, this lot provides direct access to the Rock Circuit Trail, Skyline Trail, and miles of hiking and mountain biking trails. It fills up quickly on weekend mornings — arrive before 9am to guarantee a spot.
Upper Sheepfold Parking Lot
The Upper Sheepfold parking lot is the primary access point for the Sheepfold dog park, one of the largest off-leash dog areas in Massachusetts. The lot is located off Pond Street in Stoneham and also connects to several hiking trails. On weekends this lot reaches capacity by mid-morning.
Bear Hill Parking Lot
The Bear Hill parking lot offers access to the eastern section of the reservation including Bear Hill Pond and surrounding trails. It tends to be less crowded than South Border Road and is a good alternative when the main lots are full.
Botume House / Flynn Rink / Virginia Wood
This cluster of lots along Woodland Road in Stoneham serves as the East Fells hub, with access to the Botume House Visitor Center and Spot Pond.
Greenwood Park / Stone Zoo / Pond Street
These lots in Stoneham serve the East Fells and are transit-adjacent, making them a good option if you're combining a visit with public transportation.
Crystal Springs / Jerry Jingle Park / Fellsway East
Additional parking is available in the Lynn Fells Parkway area at Crystal Springs, Jerry Jingle Park, and the Fellsway East pull-off.
