Wright's Pond at Middlesex Fells Reservation
Wright's Pond sits tucked into the West Fells, one of the smaller and quieter bodies of water at Middlesex Fells Reservation. It doesn't get the attention that Spot Pond does, and that's part of what makes it worth visiting. If you want a peaceful walk by the water, a place to fish without competition for shoreline, or just a quiet corner most people skip, Wright's Pond delivers.

Getting There
Wright's Pond is reached via the West Fells trail network. The Sheepfold parking area in Stoneham is the most practical starting point — from there, trails wind through the West Fells toward the pond.
The walk in is relaxed and forested, passing through some of the less-trafficked sections of the reservation. It's a good stretch of trail in its own right.

Fishing at Wright's Pond
Wright's Pond is a small but fishable body of water in the West Fells. Like the other ponds in the reservation, it supports freshwater species typical of Eastern Massachusetts — including largemouth bass and perch.

Wildlife and Nature
The wooded setting around Wright's Pond makes it a naturally good spot for wildlife watching. Great blue herons are regularly seen along the shoreline, and the quieter atmosphere compared to the East Fells means you're more likely to catch a glimpse of the reservation's resident wildlife — deer, foxes, and wild turkeys among them.
Early morning visits are best. The West Fells at first light is a different place than it is at noon on a summer weekend.

Tips Before You Go
- Trail shoes recommended. The West Fells trails to Wright's Pond can be muddy after rain — especially in spring.
- Bring a fishing license. Required for anyone 15 and older in Massachusetts.
- No swimming. Swimming is not permitted at Wright's Pond or anywhere in the reservation.
- Dogs are welcome on leash. The Sheepfold Dog Park is nearby for off-leash time.
- Best on weekdays or early mornings for the most peaceful experience.
